Chain of Custody for Recycling

Non-Ferrous Metals

When metals are picked up from our customer place of business it can be in Gaylord boxes, metal cages, loose in trailers or roll off containers. The material is brought back to our facility where it is weighed in and taken to the metal shop. The material is graded and looked at to decide if it needs to be sorted, baled or in different shipping containers. Once the determination is made one of the following things happens:

If material is to be baled it is taken to our main production building where it is dumped. A visual inspection of the material is performed while being loaded onto the conveyor. The material gets baled into cubes that weigh up to 2,000 lbs each. The material is then loaded onto a truck and is sent to the mill for melting.

If material is to be put into different containers then it is dumped or hand loaded into shipping containers.

If material is to be sorted it is dumped on the floor of our main production building where the material is separated into appropriate grades of material. Once the sorting is done, we use one of the two options above, loading into different containers or baling.

  • Our yard is covered by video surveillance 24hours a day.
  • All of our employees are bonded.
  • In the case of major breakdown of baling equipment we have a 2nd building with a similar type baler.
  • All Non-Ferrous metals are put into appropriate containment for storage until shipped to the mill.
